The Continental Airlines Credit Card from Chase is designed for those who have very good credit
and frequently travel with Continental Airlines.
Through the airline reward program, cardholders receive one mile for every
dollar spent on the card with no yearly limit (the classic card has a yearly
limit of 80,000 miles). Earned miles do not expire (a rare feature for a
frequent flyer card) and can be combined with Continental's frequent flyer
program.
Double miles are awarded when using the card at participating retailers and when
Continental Airlines tickets are purchased online at www.continental.com or at a
Continental Airlines ticket facility. In addition, cardholders may also receive
up to 11 additional miles per dollar spent at participating restaurants. New
applicants are also awarded 10,000 bonus miles upon payment of the annual fee.
Aside from the reward program, the card provides benefits that include up to
$500,000 in travel accident insurance, auto rental insurance, and various travel
and emergency assistance services.
The card does provide a reasonable interest rate as compared to other reward
cards and has an annual fee of $65 ($45 for the classic card). In addition, the
card offers a low introductory rate for both purchases and balance transfers for
the first six months of membership.
Therefore, those who can afford to pay in full each month after the introductory
rate expires (to avoid finance charges), frequently fly with Continental
Airlines (as miles can be combined with the Continental Airlines frequent flyer
program), and will be able to redeem a free ticket or other travel related
services within a two-year period (due to the annual fee), will benefit most
from what the Continental Airlines Credit Card from Chase has to offer.
